This weekend I shot with Seoul-based DJ & Production trio Hazed & Confucius. The group are really kicking up a name for themselves in the underground house scene out here in Seoul and recently just released a compilation EP.
We walked around the back-alleys and around the metal workshops in Euljiro, northern Seoul. I have shot around here many times before and have always thought that aside from its immediate cyberpunk qualities it would make for a pretty sick spot for some portrait work. This was also the first time I've ever done a shoot with more than one person, and at the time of shooting, it wasn't as difficult as I first thought it would be. Only when looking through the photos once I got home did I realise it wasn't quite the walk-in-the-park I experienced whilst out shooting. With three people you might have someone blinking in a shot, so two of the three look great and the other one has their eyes closed. But that really was the only problem, all three of them really knew how to pull off 'the look' and I really didn't have to do much directing at all!
Is the Sony still a beast? Yes, it is. But, I've got my eye on the new Sigma lenses that are about to drop. Also, I'm going to get this really cool piece of kit that is going to take my cyberpunk pictures to the next level, I won't say what they are yet in case they are rubbish and then I ended up doing an ad for a rubbish piece of kit and then you think I'm rubbish.
I had two other shoots to do after the Hazed and Confucius shoot and I will post them later on!
